New year, new movies! Who’s excited? New stories, new places for my imagination to travel, new characters for me to meet – I know I am! Not sure yet? Here are 5 movies I’m excited about this year!
The Commuter | January 11
Liam Neeson is at it again, and this time he’s on a train. Another suspense, another group of mysterious killers and less than 105 minutes to solve it.
- Starring Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson
- Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra
- In 25 words or less | Strangers On a Train versus Girl on the Train versus Taken.
Peter Rabbit | February 9
Literally, MY FAVOURITE childhood story in modern-day picture, and it looks ah-mazing. Not to mention Mr. McGregor is adorable, and who doesn’t love talking animals?
- Starring James Corden, Domhnall Gleeson & Margot Robbie
- Directed by Will Gluck
- In 25 words or less | Peter Rabbit and the entire animal crew versus Mr. McGregor.
Blockers | April 6
This looks hilarious, and I’ve always loved Leslie Mann ever since I first saw her in the George of the Jungle — I guess John Cena and Ike Barinholtz are OK too. The trailer alone had me roaring so I can’t wait to catch it when it makes it to theatres in a few months.
- Starring Leslie Mann, John Cena & Ike Barinholtz
- Directed by Kay Cannon
- In 25 words or less | Parents try to cockblock their teenage daughters when they learn they are planning on losing their virginity.
- Fun fact | This reminds me of the Onion video called Facebook, Twitter Revolutionizing How Parents Stalk Their College-Aged Kids, you should watch it if you haven’t seen it
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom | June 22
Dinosaurs, adventure, Chris Pratt — what more could you want? Admittedly I am a HUGE dinosaur fan; at the end of my last class I bought myself a tray of dinosaur chocolates, I also asked my sister for dinosaur cookie cutters for Christmas (sadly, I didn’t get any)… regardless all the great dino movies fall on my top (million, ha!) movies list.
- Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard & Jeff Goldblum
- Directed by J. A. Bayona
- In 25 words or less | Owen and Claire return to the island of Isla Nublar; when they get there they find that they find more than they left behind.
- This is a sequel to Jurassic World in the Jurassic Park series
- Fun fact Universal Studios Hollywood has an AWESOME Jurassic Park themed ride
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms | November 2
Uhh… Disney, check. A classic, check. Holiday-themed, check. Looks amazing, check. I’m going, check. SERIOUSLY, I am so excited about the amazing sets, cast and magic behind this film.
- Starring Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy & Morgan Freeman
- Directed by Lasse Hallström & Joe Johnston
- In 25 words or less | It’s like Alice in Wonderland meets fairies, gingerbread men and nutcrackers.
