Review: FabFitFun Spring Box

Reading Time: 7 minutes

My first FabFitFun Spring Box arrived later than I expected it to. Truthfully, I’m sure it arrived on time. But I had been checking the mail every day for two weeks just in case, and it’s like your mother always used to tell you, if you keep checking the clock time goes slower! In any case, it arrived but the item review took a tad bit longer than expected. But as promised, here it is!

A quick overview of my FabFitfun Spring Box 2019
A quick visual overview of my spring FabFitFun box.

FabFitFun Spring Box

The FabFitFun Spring Box was my first official FabFitFun box, though earlier this year I did get a FabFitFun Starter Box.

A FabFitFun subscription costs $50 USD quarterly (which is typically between $80 and $90 CAD, depending on the current exchange rate). Naturally, I was stoked to find out what I got, and it turns out I LOVE IT. ?

The FabFitFun Summer Box customization starts next week, so check back for another blog post on the customization and add-on process. It’ll be my first one!

Deux Lux Demi Backpack, part of the FabFitFun Spring Box 2019

Deux Lux Demi Backpack

I absolutely love the Deux Lux Demi Backpack, I keep thinking I don’t need any more bags but FabFitFun keeps sending them and I LOVE IT.

This bag is the perfect going out-size, pending you don’t have to cart a laptop around with you—I typically do, but for the times that I don’t this backpack works perfectly.

This past weekend, I was hosting an event at a bar a few blocks away and I decided to cart along this bag. It fit my chunky Matt & Nat wallet, my glasses case, a notebook and pen, a water bottle plus three canisters of David’s Tea which I had stopped for earlier in the day.

It has a cute button clasp, and the bag is one single compartment that’s not too big so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding your things—though there is a small phone slot at the back. My only concern is that it feels like I’ve broken the straps when I slide it off, but I think that’s because one always hits the seam of my jacket and needs an extra tug.

It’s retail value is $75, and considering I’ve used it an average of once weekly since I got it, I’d say it was well worth the $50 box price.

OUAI Leave in Conditioner (image from Amazon)

OUAI Leave in Conditioner

Having curly hair can be a curse as much as it’s a blessing. I find that curly hair almost always looks nice, regardless of how messy it is, pending you take care of it. But it can easily become a tangled mess. Recently, I had been looking for a leave-in conditioner and FabFitFun answered my prayers.

OUAI Leave in Conditioner is amazing. While I keep telling myself that I “can’t decide” which product I like most from the Spring FabFitFun box, the truth is… there’s only like a quarter of this conditioner left. So while my favourite is between the bag and the conditioner, this definitely has the most practical value considering I was already looking for a similar product when I got it.

I get terrible tangles at the nape of my neck due to my thick curly hair, but they’ve been getting much better since I started using this leave in conditioner. I would highly recommend it, and I’m definitely gearing up to purchase another bottle as it’s fast becoming my main hair product.

While it’s retail value is only $26 meaning alone I wouldn’t find the box worth it, combined with the other items I like, it’s well worth the cost.

Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons (image from Giadzy)

Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons

As far as daily use items go, these Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons top my list. Not only are they adorable, but I use them almost every day.

They’re such a practical addition to the FabFitFun Spring Box for someone like me who cooks often, and they surprisingly go perfectly well with the adorable pale blue kitchen aid and lime green stools I have in my kitchen.

Their retail value is $15, so its definitely not worth the box price if I didn’t like anything else. But these are 100% something I would purchase myself.

Manna Kadar Champagne Charcoal Body Scrub

The Manna Kadar Champagne Charcoal Body Scrub is a great exfoliator, especially if you’re like me and you have psoriasis (but be gentle).

It retails for about $30, and quite frankly you’d be hard pressed to find a good body scrub that doesn’t cost a pretty penny. Considering I love it and use it once or twice a week, I’d say it helps to make the box worth it.

Sunnylife Lovers Picnic Set in Malibu

The Lovers Picnic Set in Malibu is freaking adorable. I have to say even though I haven’t even opened it to use it yet, I was stoked to get it. It’s so cute.

Now, I’m not a picnic in the park kinda gal normally, but I do go a few times a year to visit my parents while they camp so I’ll probably cart it along with me next time I go.

It also comes in a cute geometric peach along with a Monteverde nature-themed green.

Ciaté London Extraordinary Translucent Setting Powder image via Amazon

Ciaté London Extraordinary Translucent Setting Powder

I already have both setting powder and spray, so I wasn’t thrilled to get the Ciaté London Extraordinary Translucent Setting Powder. But I gave it a try anyway, and voila—I like it WAY more than the one I already had.

It’s much lighter and doesn’t seem to mute my makeup like the [INSERT NAME] that I regularly use. And while I think I prefer setting spray over any powder, I do find my [INSERT] setting spray to be a tad bit sticky right after application.

Dr. Brandt Eye De-Puffing Gel

I’ve only used the Dr. Brandt Eye De-Puffing Gel once so far, though honestly, I could probably use it regularly due to the lack of sleep and the ridiculous amount of baggage my eyes probably carry around.

But don’t let my dis-use scare you away, Dr. Brandt products are superior and this is no exception. A friend of mine who also received the FabFitFun Spring Box said she absolutely loves it.

This product regularly retails around $53, so considering that if you love the product this box is well worth its fee.

EleVen by Venus Jump Rope image via

EleVen by Venus Jump Rope

The EleVen by Venus Jump Rope is 100% still sitting in the box, likely at the bottom of my closet. Of all of the things I received, this is definitely my least favourite.

It’s retail price is around $20, which if you ask me is too much for a jump rope. But considering “exercise” isn’t one of my favourite activities, it’s probably a me problem.

I actually think I would totally dig jump-roping but I’d have to head to a public park to do it and this body is not meant to be shown off jiggling around as I bounce up and down.

Alas, I think this is the real loser of my FabFitFun Spring 2019 box. But I know there’s someone out there who truly enjoys it.
